Envision Group Begins Mass Production of the 790Ah Lithium Cell – The Highest Capacity Prismatic Lithium Cell for Energy Storage

At the recent 14th Energy Storage International Summit and Expo (ESIE 2026), Envision Group made a landmark announcement: the world’s largest square-case wound 790Ah lithium cell is now in mass production. This breakthrough solidifies the cell’s position as the highest capacity lithium cell in its class, setting a new benchmark for utility-scale energy storage.

Unmatched Performance and Longevity

Produced at Envision Power’s Cangzhou Battery Super Factory in Hebei Province, this next-generation cell pushes the boundaries of energy storage technology. Key specifications include:

  • Energy density exceeding 440 Wh/L, enabling more compact and efficient storage systems.

  • Cycle life surpassing 15,000 cycles, translating to a service life of up to 30 years under normal operating conditions.

  • Rigorous safety credentials – the cell has successfully passed a series of high-risk abuse tests, ensuring reliability in demanding grid applications.

These attributes make the 790Ah cell an ideal building block for long-duration energy storage, directly supporting renewable integration and grid stability worldwide.

Scaling Production for Global Demand

The Cangzhou super factory serves as Envision Power’s dedicated hub for advanced energy storage manufacturing. Phase I of the facility was commissioned in November 2024, achieving “production and immediate export” with its initial batches shipped to overseas customers. Construction on Phase II began in 2025, extending the production chain across electrodes, cells, modules, and battery packs. Once both phases are fully ramped up, the factory is projected to deliver an annual output value of RMB 20 billion, with Phase II expected to come online in 2026.

Envision Power (a subsidiary of Envision Group) is a leading Chinese smart battery technology company, operating 13 production bases globally. The rapid scaling of the highest capacity lithium cell for energy storage from Cangzhou underscores the company’s commitment to high-quality, high-volume delivery for both automotive and stationary energy storage markets.

What This Means for the Energy Storage Industry

The mass production of the 790ah lithium cell arrives at a critical moment. As renewable penetration deepens, the demand for safer, longer-lasting, and more cost-effective storage solutions intensifies. By offering a single cell with such high capacity and extended cycle life, Envision reduces system integration complexity and lifetime cost, accelerating the business case for large-scale battery energy storage projects.

Whether you’re a project developer, an investor, or a technology partner, the availability of the highest capacity lithium cell on the market signals a pivotal shift. It represents a tangible step toward 30-year storage assets that can truly endure the rigors of daily cycling.
